The 2016 export statistics were published on 4 April 2017. In 2016, the Finnish health technology industry reached two milestones. The value of exports exceeded two billion euros and the trade surplus was more than a billion euros.
Exports of health technology products grew in 2015 by 9.7 per cent to EUR 2.11 billion. Imports grew by 8.0 per cent to about one billion euros and the sector’s trade surplus passed the one billion mark for the first time. Health tech continues to be one of the fastest growing tech export sectors in Finland. In the past 20 years, exports by the sector have increased five-fold. The sector employs over 10 000 people in Finland.
